By registering for, accessing, or participating in a Reel In America fishing challenge, you acknowledge that you have read, understand, and agree to these Terms and Conditions.
1. About the challenge
Reel In America offers recreational fishing challenges that encourage participants to explore fishing opportunities, catch qualifying fish species, document their catches, and earn recognition through optional medals, patches, or other awards.
Participants may register for three national challenges: the Junior Angler Challenge, the Master Angler Challenge, or the Family Challenge. Program participation is structured around species targets or trip counts rather than geographic mandates.
Specific requirements, eligible species, deadlines, fees, awards, and participation rules may vary by challenge and will be described on the applicable challenge page.
2. Eligibility and registration
Participants must provide accurate and complete registration information.
Adults may register themselves if they are at least 18 years old or have reached the age of legal majority where they live.
Participants ages 13–17 may create and use their own accounts with permission from a parent or legal guardian. Children under 13 must participate through an account created and managed by a parent or legal guardian.
By registering a junior angler or giving a participant ages 13–17 permission to use an account, the parent or legal guardian confirms that they:
• Are the participant’s parent or legal guardian.
• Have legal authority to consent to the child’s participation.
• Accept these Terms and Conditions on behalf of themselves and, where permitted by law, the junior angler.
• Will supervise the junior angler’s participation and ensure compliance with applicable fishing and safety requirements.
Reel In America may request additional information to verify a parent’s or guardian’s identity or authority.
3. Junior anglers and children under 13
Participants ages 13–17 may use their own accounts with permission from a parent or legal guardian. For children under 13, the parent or legal guardian must create and manage the account and handle submissions.
For children under 13, Reel In America may require verified parental consent before collecting, using, storing, or publicly sharing personal information, photographs, videos, audio recordings, or other identifiable content.
A parent’s or guardian’s consent to a child’s participation does not automatically authorize public use of the child’s photographs or videos. Public sharing requires a separate media release.
Parents and legal guardians may request access to, correction of, or deletion of their child’s personal information by contacting Reel In America at info@reelinamerica.com
Reel In America will not intentionally collect more information about a junior angler than reasonably necessary to administer the challenge.
4. Fishing licenses and compliance with laws
Participants are responsible for obtaining and maintaining all required fishing licenses, permits, stamps, and authorizations.
Participants must comply with all applicable federal, state, tribal, and local laws and regulations, including fishing seasons, size limits, and boating safety requirements.
A catch made unlawfully or in violation of fishing regulations does not qualify.
Reel In America does not provide fishing licenses or guarantee that a particular location, season, species, or fishing method is lawful.
5. Challenge requirements and qualifying catches
Program requirements are defined by the specific challenge selected:
• Junior Angler Challenge: Participants must choose and document either 5 or 8 qualifying species.
• Master Angler Challenge: Participants must choose and document either 10 or 20 qualifying species.
• Family Challenge: Participants must complete and document 8 fishing trips.
Catches are logged by state for tracking purposes and display on the digital participant map; however, there is no requirement to fish in all 50 states or any specific number of states to complete these challenges.
To qualify, a catch must:
• Be made by the registered participant.
• Occur within the applicable challenge period.
• Involve an eligible species listed for that challenge.
• Be documented through an acceptable photograph, video, or other requested verification.
• Comply with applicable fishing laws and challenge rules.
Junior anglers may receive reasonable age-appropriate assistance from a supervising adult, provided the junior angler meaningfully participates in catching the fish.
Reel In America may review submissions to verify the species, location, date, participant identity, and compliance with challenge rules. We may reject incomplete, inaccurate, altered, duplicate, fraudulent, unsafe, or unlawful submissions.
6. Ethical fishing and animal welfare
Participants agree to fish responsibly and treat wildlife humanely. Reel In America may reject or remove content depicting animal cruelty, prohibited species handling, or conduct inconsistent with responsible outdoor recreation.
7. Awards and recognition
Awards are tied to verified completion of the selected challenge. The Family Challenge fee includes a plaque earned after eight documented fishing trips. Junior and Master Angler participants may become eligible to purchase optional physical awards; these are not included in the registration fee unless otherwise specified. Available options and pricing include:
• Junior and Master Angler: Medals ($30), Patches ($15), and Hats ($30).
• Family Challenge: $49 to enter the challenge and earn a plaque after completing and documenting eight fishing trips. Optional patches for children are $5 per child.
Awards are subject to verification, availability, and payment of disclosed shipping or fulfillment charges. Awards have no cash value and may not be exchanged for cash. No leaderboard, national ranking, or competitive standing is guaranteed, provided, or maintained by Reel In America.
8. Registration fees and refunds
Registration fees, optional award fees, and shipping costs will be disclosed before purchase. Unless otherwise stated at checkout or required by law, fees are nonrefundable once a participant has received access to a challenge or submitted a catch.
9. Submitted photographs, videos, and other content
Participants retain ownership of content they lawfully create and submit. Reel In America administrators may access all uploaded photographs and videos to administer the challenge and verify submissions. Participants cannot view other participants’ uploads, and there is no participant gallery. Uploading content does not grant permission for promotional use.
10. Adult participant photo and video consent
Reel In America may use an adult participant’s photographs, videos, image, or catch information on its website, social media, or other marketing materials only with the adult participant’s separate permission. Registration and uploading media do not provide that permission. You represent that you own the content and have necessary permissions from any identifiable individuals.
11. Junior angler photo and video consent
Promotional use of photographs, videos, or identifiable images of participants under 18, including participants ages 13–17 who use their own accounts, requires separate permission from a parent or legal guardian. This applies to Reel In America’s website, social media, and other marketing materials. Permission to participate or upload media does not provide promotional permission. Parents may decline promotional permission while still allowing private challenge verification.
12. Content standards
Participants may not submit content that is unlawful, fraudulent, misleading, or infringes on third-party rights. We may remove content or disqualify participants for rule violations.
13. Privacy and location information
Reel In America collects information necessary to operate the challenge. While catches are logged by state for map display, exact fishing coordinates should not be publicly displayed unless the participant chooses to disclose them. Please see our Privacy Policy for more details.
14. Safety and assumption of risk
Fishing involves inherent risks. Participants are responsible for evaluating conditions and using safety equipment. To the fullest extent permitted by law, adult participants assume the risks associated with their voluntary participation.
15. Account suspension and disqualification
Reel In America may terminate participation for fraud, unsafe conduct, or repeated rule violations. Disqualified participants lose eligibility for optional awards.
16. Website and app availability
We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, continuous access to digital maps, or compatibility with every device.
17. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Reel In America’s total liability relating to a participant’s claim will not exceed the greater of the amount paid by the participant during the preceding 12 months or $100.
18. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Indiana. Disputes will be brought in an appropriate court located in Pike County, Indiana.
19. Changes to these Terms
Reel In America may update these Terms from time to time. Updated Terms will be posted with a revised effective date.
